Faith and Consumerism
Consumerism identifies a lifestyle in which a large number of individuals
obtain more than is needed, more than is necessary for fulfillment,
and more than God's Earth can sustain. Because consumerism intensifies
pollution and degrades God's Creation, this lifestyle is at the heart of what Christians
are called to question and confront.
As people of faith, we understand our responsibilities to protect
the sacred gifts given by God and to be good stewards of these gifts.
How we live our lives and make purchasing decisions have profound
environmental and justice impacts on God's Creation.
