Healthy Actions
Educate Others!
Now that you know more about how synthetic toxics and pollutants can threaten the health of God’s people and good earth, pass on the message. Here are some ideas to get you started.
- Download Mindful Living: Human Health, Pollution, and Toxics. This brand new education, action and worship resource is full of ideas to lead a bible study, organize a worship service, or lead youth group activities on environmental health.
- View the Christian Principles for a Healthy Body and Spirit. Ask your pastor or a woman religious to sign them. Take them with you on a visit to talk with your congressmember.
- Share this website with friends and family. Let others know our faith tradition’s call to care for the health of our bodies, our communities, and God’s creation, and how they can protect their families from harmful pollutants in their everyday lives.
- If you live in Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Washington, Connecticut or Minnesota arrange for a National Council of Churches representative to give a presentation at your church. Find a contact in your state below.
- Host a Mindful Living or Cleanliness is Godliness gathering in your church in your church. These gathering guides include information on how to arrange a gathering, a sample agenda and ideas for activities. Visit the environmental health resources page to download a guide.
Lift up your voice!
People across the country are lifting up concerns for creation, children, the elderly, pregnant women, communities of color, and low income communities who are most vulnerable to the hazards that toxic chemicals and other pollutants pose to human health and the health of our planet.
The National Council of Churches is working directly with congregations in Michigan, Minnesota, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Washington, and Maine. But there are coalitions in many other states that are working to protect the health of vulnerable communities and God’s Creation. See below for contacts in states where you might live. Take this opportunity to lift your voice for justice!
Find a list of current or proposed policies on toxic chemicals in your state here.
