Faith and Environmental Justice
As Christians we are called to care for all of God's people, particularly vulnerable communities. Environmental justice is the fair treatment of all people, regardless of color, income, national origin or race for equallevel of environmental protection. Environmental injustices can be seen all across the world--placing toxic waste sites in African-American communities, placing low-income housing near sewage treatment plants, spraying pesticides on fields in which migrant farm workers labor. As we read in John 3:16 that God so loved the world that God gave his only son, we begin to understand that it is with unconditional love, the underlying concept behind the term "Environmental Justice” that we ensure justice and equality for all.
